Women Awake PAC Celebrates Wake County Primary Results

Women Awake PAC is extremely proud of our 2018 Endorsed Slate of Candidates for the Wake County Commissioners!

  • Susan Evans, a former member of the Board of Education, decisively defeated Erv Portman, earning 61.98% of the primary votes cast.
  • Vickie Adamson, a political newcomer, earned 51.75% of the primary votes to unseat John Burns in a result that many viewed as an upset victory – but that we expected!
  • Lindy Brown was barely edged out by incumbent Matt Calabria in the closest race of the primary, but she had a very strong showing and received 48.37% of the primary votes.
  • Jessica Holmes, current Chair of the Wake County Commission, did not face a challenger in the primary.

The Wake County voters recognized the strong qualifications of these women, and demonstrated the importance of supporting public education, as well as improving the gender representation on a previously male-dominated Board.

Now, Women Awake PAC looks forward to supporting Susan Evans and Vickie Adamson in the general election, as they earn the right to take their seat at the table on the Wake County Commission, along with Jessica Holmes.
